Fulfilment as heart of the organisation

Fulfilment is the heart of the organisation. How have you organised your fulfilment?

Fulfilment as the heart of the organisation

SBJ, which stands for Service Bureau Jansen, started its fulfilment activities a long time ago, when Philips first started selling televisions. Philips wanted to supply TV guides as an extra service for customers who purchased TVs. That was when SBJ started to get involved. The first major project in the south of the Netherlands. TV guides, which later turned out to be the seeds for SBJ's growth over time.

Storage and delivery

SBJ arranged the storage of the guides and delivered the guides to the customer's address immediately after a television had been sold. They did so in Philips' name. This growing, internationally operating business did not have to do anything. It was all arranged on their behalf.

Just as Philips expanded, SBJ also grew with the market in an innovative way. With fulfilment as its main activity. These days SBJ is also involved in fulfilment-related areas such as print on demand, return procedures, recalls and direct mail. SBJ also focuses continually on the future, so that it can keep growing with big, and especially small, businesses alike.

Outsourcing fulfilment. How does it work?

First and foremost, SBJ helps you assess whether it might be profitable to outsource your fulfilment (or just a part of it). This involves us making a number of different calculations and we approach your request not only with our heads but also with our hearts.

Perhaps you only want to outsource your stock control. SBJ has more than 5,000 m2 of pallet space. Here everything can be stored, for example your own marketing material, trade fair material (from print to furniture) and your stock articles. There is a separate, secure room for valuable materials. In addition, there is a separate room for the storage of confidential data. This has been furnished and can be locked entirely in accordance with the ISO standards. SBJ would be only too pleased to show you the warehouse, as well as the WMS (Warehouse Management System) in which everything is registered and which gives you an insight into the state of affairs any time you wish.

Action Plan

The moment you want to transfer your stock to SBJ, SBJ will help you draw up an action plan. When is the transfer going to take place, which goods are involved, how are they going to be booked into the system (for example name, article numbers, descriptions, photos) and when is the entire fulfilment process going to go live? All these questions are answered and detailed in this plan. You will be given a WMS masterclass during which you will learn how your new WMS works, how you place orders and download overviews and how you can request other types of service. In consultation with you SBJ will make all the necessary arrangements with your own selected haulier, or can advise you during this process. The excellent contacts and agreements that SBJ has with various hauliers means that it may even be cheaper to work with a haulier via SBJ. It goes without saying that this is one of the things we will help you assess.

After going live SBJ will keep a close watch to see whether everything takes place in accordance with your wishes. This means checking whether the correct papers have been added to the packages, whether the orders have been communicated properly, etc. If necessary, all the procedures will be adjusted for as long as it takes to ensure that everything goes according to plan. SBJ will aim to arrange everything perfectly within the shortest possible time.

Constant contact

During this transition process you will have a fixed contact person who you can contact at any time if you have any questions or comments. We do this so that you know for sure that all your wishes have been taken care of.

After going live the fulfilment process will be regularly evaluated together with you. SBJ's aim is complete 100% satisfaction for you and your customers and, to achieve this we are prepared to go to extreme lengths.

If you would like to find out more, or if you would like to make an appointment for an informal discussion, please contact Mariëlle Jansen, on telephone number +31 (0)40-290 51 00 or send an e-mail to Mariëlle
